One of only three Underground Railroad stops in Ohio owned by free Black Americans, the Gammon House is one of Springfield's most powerful historic sites. Built in the 1850s by George and Sarah Gammon, the home features secret passages to the attic and a tunnel into the basement that sheltered freedom seekers heading north. Tours run the first Saturday of every month, 1:00–3:00 pm, and by reservation for groups.
