Greetings from Springfield, indeed! We’ve never properly explored Springfield despite all our time in Ohio, so the folks from Greater Springfield kindly hosted us over a beautiful fall weekend.
An hour-long drive from Columbus takes you to a place called Springfield. It’s close to Yellow Springs and makes a good home base for a fun, quirky Ohio weekend. With options for interesting dining, antique shopping and outdoor exploration, you can get yourself a full Midwestern travel experience.
Onto my last post from our trip to Springfield, Ohio! So I wanted to do an entire blog post on where we stayed… because it was wonderful. I loved it! We were able to stay in one of the treehouses at the historic Simon Kenton Inn.
Onto our first full day in Springfield, Ohio! We packed this day to the brim from morning to night… so I have lots of fun recommendations if you’re planning a visit to the city. But it felt like a good, slow, relaxing day too.
When you live in an area where there's always something to do, it can be easy to forget that there are SO many places out of state (and beyond) that need exploring, as well! That’s why I was excited when Greater Springfield reached out with the opportunity to spend a weekend in a part of Ohio I’d never taken the time to explore.
We celebrated Jax’s birthday last month in Springfield, Ohio. Just about an hour and a half North-East from Cincinnati, Springfield is snuggled in between Columbus and Dayton. It’s a quaint little place full of vibrancy.
Springfield, Ohio was a great road trip destination for our family. It’s only a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive from most of the metro Detroit area and is filled with lots of fun activities and places to explore, especially for families. Springfield is a mid-sized city that is making the moves to bring in lots of fun eateries, shops and activities in the area.
On our last night in town, we headed over to Mother Stewart's Brewing. It was awesome! I loved it. The vibe was really cool, they had a great selection of beers (and lots of options for non-beer drinkers!). I went for a rosé sangria on ice that was delicious. We enjoyed drinks outside in the outdoor beer garden and enjoyed watching all of the fireflies. So many fireflies on this trip!
On our first full day in Springfield, Ohio... we spent the morning exploring their downtown! Thankfully the weather was beautiful and sunny, and we were able to walk almost everywhere! I loved how walkable this area was. It's always a great way to take in a new city and get a little fresh air!
In mid-June my family took a trip to Springfield, Ohio to discover some new family-friendly activities and explore a city that was new to us! We were pleasantly surprised to find that Springfield is only 45 minutes from Columbus, which makes this trip an easy day trip or an overnight trip where you won’t spend a huge chunk of your time driving!
